It’s a mystery currently puzzling the scientific community. Why the sudden appearance of an extraordinarily rare deep-sea fish surfacing? The El Niño weather event is known to diminish the volumes of cold water off North America’s coast, possibly triggering individual species to migrate to the surface.
Sadly, the anglerfish’s journey to the earthly surface ended more quickly than anticipated. It eventually succumbed to the unfamiliar environment and, could not sustain life for a prolonged period. Today, this unique specimen has found a new home at Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Museum of Nature and Archaeology. Here, experts have taken the helm, embarking on an exciting quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding this rare deep-sea dweller through extensive analysis and study.
