Amid the surge of the summer swimsuit frenzy, Megan Fox, along with a host of other prominent women, creates ripples with the latest covers of ‘Sports Illustrated’. This venerated cover has bred stardom for icons like Tyra Banks, Brooklyn Decker, and Adriana Lima over the decades. This year, however, the covers reach a broad-spectrum inclusivity. Fox shares the limelight with Martha Stewart, Padma Lakshmi, and Kim Petras, to name a few.
Fox’s photoshoot, executed by the revered photographer Greg Swales, ranges from seashell-adorned fishnet swimwear to a cleverly revealing baby tee. And it is not a bona fide ‘SI’ cover that doesn’t evoke an urge to travel. Fox’s stunning poses were shot on the sublime shores of the Dominican Republic. She showcases pieces from JรBLANC, Frankies Bikinis, and Miaou, adorned with jewels from Jacquie Aiche, LETRA, and Ryan Storer. Her raven-tressed mermaid charm, faultlessly styled by her hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, completed the beach goddess persona.
In an official statement, MJ Day, the editor in chief of ‘SI’ Swimsuit, attested that the selection aims to spark conversation while inspiring fashionable beach attires. Day tagged Fox as a “Superwoman with superpowers”, dismantling worn-out notions of Hollywood’s femme fatale.
“Martha Stewart is a legend who has constructed an empire against overwhelming odds as an extraordinary female businessperson. Megan Fox is a superwoman brimming with formidable abilities. She exemplifies intelligence, boundary-breaking strength, and resilience against the industry’s perpetual objectification. Kim Petras, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, is a beacon for the LGBTQ+ and trans community, empowering her followers through her talent and perseverance. Brooks Nader, who kickstarted her modeling career through our Swim Search program, has proven to be a remarkable addition to our brand. She has showcased her resilience and discipline, establishing herself as a formidable entity. These women, along with our other models, ambitiously defy societal norms and illustrate how talent, passion, persistence, tenacity, curiosity, and the undeterred desire to evolve can be harnessed.”
Mark your calendars – the 2023 ‘Sports Illustrated’ Swimsuit issue will be available on newsstands on May 18.
