A young woman brings home her fiancรฉ to meet her parents.
After dinner, her mother tells her father to find out about the young man.
The father invites the fiancรฉ to his study for a drink.
โSo what are your plans?โ the father asks the young man.
โI am a bible scholar.โ he replies.
โA bible scholar?
Hmmm,โ the father says.
โAdmirable, but what will you do to provide a nice house for my daughter to live in, as sheโs accustomed to?โ
โI will study,โ the young man replies, โand God will provide for us.โ
โAnd how will you buy her a beautiful engagement ring, such as she deserves?โ asks the father.
โI will concentrate on my studies,โ the young man replies.
โGod will provide for us.โ
โAnd children?โ asks the father.
โHow will you support children?โ
โDonโt worry, sir, God will provide,โ replies the fiancรฉ.
The conversation proceeds like this, and each time the father questions him, the young idealist insists that God will provide.
Later, the mother asks, โHow did it go, honey?โ
The father answers, โThe bad news is, he has no job and no plans.
The good news is he thinks Iโm God.โ
