Actress Mandy Moore’s Unexpected Delight: Rescuing a Street Stray

The act of celebrities rescuing animals sends a strong, positive message that encourages their fans to choose adoption over buying pets. Actress Mandy Moore has quite recently exemplified this act of compassion by adopting a stray dog into her loving family.

Mandy Moore

This celebrated figure from ‘This is Us’ unveiled the heartwarming news in a January 20 Instagram post. According to Moore, her nanny Celina stumbled across a stray dog that had been wandering the streets for several days. Enchanted by the dog, Moore and her family decided to make him a family member.

Indeed, they had no plans to get a new pet, but as Moore pens it: “He was looking for us…and his uncanny resemblance to our dear Joni made it impossible to ignore.” Joni was one of Moore’s beloved dogs who passed away in 2020 at the age of 12.

This benevolent singer also revealed that the puppy is roughly 6-7 months old and wasn’t marked with a microchip. She aims to have him neutered soon and the puppy now answers to the name ‘Marshmallow,’ courtesy of Moore’s 2-year-old son Gus.

Marshmallow’s presence, according to Moore, has been “an unexpectedly delightful addition to our gang.” While her other pets were at first indifferent, Marshmallow has been succeeding in charming them over.

By concluding her post with the much-touted hashtag #adoptdontshop, Moore emphasizes the significance of adopting rescue animals. The gesture was well-received, with several followers applauding her compassionate act.

A quintessential pet lover since her childhood, Moore shares her home with several pets, including another rescued canine named Jackson and three adopted cats, Fig, Olivia, and Peanut.

As a two-time mom, Moore articulates that nurturing her pets has equipped her well in preparation for her human babies. Her pets, she expresses, are a vital part of their family and immensely important.

Mandy Moore now joins a list of other celebrities who have generously offered a home to rescue dogs, including Simon Cowell of America’s Got Talent, Oscar-winning Lupita Nyong’o, and music titan Billy Joel.

We gladly welcome Marshmallow to his new home, and extend our gratitude to Mandy Moore and her family for offering this lovely stray a lifetime of love and care.
