Fans of fashion-centric reality shows fondly recall Project Runway’s heyday. Netflix’s recent webslinger into the arena, Next in Fashion, has similarly won the hearts of style-savvy viewers since its 2020 launch.
After Alexa Chung shared hosting duties with Queer Eye’s Tan France in the inaugural season, supermodel Gigi Hadid has now grabbed the baton for its much-anticipated sequel. Gigi, a modern fashion titan, impressed with stunning designer outfits in each episode. Let’s have a glance!
Commencing the program with an episode aptly named ‘Royalty’, Gigi made a blockbuster debut donning Versace. The perfect choice considering the seat for the guest judge was occupied by Donatella Versace.
To mark her premiere, she dressed in a golden, chain-detail outfit from the prestigious Italian label. Later, we saw her switching into a purple rhinestone concoction, mated with wide-leg pinstripe trousers from the Fall 2022 collection.
Versace made a return in the sixth Met Gala episode. It featured Gigi sporting a custom red puffer coat just like her 2022 Met Gala attire complemented with latex corset jumpsuit.
During the second episode centered around ‘Wear the Earth’, Gigi artfully clad in floral-inspired pieces from the Polish brand The Mannei.
As the episode progressed, Gigi took on a paint-splattered vibrant Sevali masterpiece, enhancing its glamour with striking leggings and an Off-White industrial belt.
In the third episode titled ‘Thrift’, she sported a grunge-style ensemble by Alessandra Rich, a red, single-breasted blazer with a zebra-patterned knitted crop top and high-waisted denim shorts.
Alessandra Rich emerged again in the eighth episode. Gigi donned checked-tweed co-ordinates with a white mikado collar and accessorized with strawberry and cherry charms, all by the same brand!
In the ‘Childhood’ themed fourth episode, Gigi flaunted a Y2K-inspired Isabel Marant, an innovative maxi dress styled as a top paired with sheer pants. A back-to-front cap completed the look.
In the fifth episode, Gigi adorned a form-fitting catsuit from Balmain’s Spring 2023 collection, paired with regal gold accessories.
Balmain surfaced again in the episode’s next part with Gigi winning on ‘Barbiecore’ – a pink cropped denim jacket and tapered jeans from the same brand’s collaboration with Mattel.
Sixth episodeโs styling featured a dazzling silver sequined Alexandre Vauthier ensemble from the Spring 2022 collection.
Subsequently, while scrutinizing the contestant’s creations, she wore a monochrome Marc Jacobs gown with a turtleneck collar and dark gloves.
Sporting a monochromatic ensemble during the ‘Swimwear’ episode, Gigi accessorized tastefully with Chanel products, even using the brand’s chain belt as a necklace.
The penultimate episode introduced a gem-studded transparent creation by London-based designer David Koma.
Comfortably beginning with a striking Versace outfit, Gigi ended season two just as impressively. She closed the season illuminated in neon green, wearing a show-stopping bodysuit created by British designer Richard Quinn, paired with matching green pumps and a glamorous necklace. A perfect note to conclude the season!
