Globally renowned singer, Dua Lipa, was recently spotted on the streets of Notting Hill walking out of a yoga class with a friend on Wednesday morning. Lipa’s characteristic cool and everyday style were on full display, as was her infectious zest for life, clearly invigorated by a refreshing post-yoga coffee.
True to her effortless style, the 27-year old pop diva donned a luminescent lime-green jacket paired with contrasting black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes, clearly having aced the art of dressing down in style.
Financial documents recently unveiled that Dua has considerably bolstered her net worth by an impressive £4 million. The wealth of her company, Dua Lipa Limited, has mushroomed to £21.6 million, marking a sizable increase from the £17.5 million recorded the previous year.
With an additional £11.6 million of assets held under another of her companies, it’s safe to say that her father and new manager, Dukagin Lipa, has been steering her financial ship quite aptly.
Earlier in the year, it was announced that Lipa had parted ways with the management company that rocket-propelled her to international stardom over a dispute about her remuneration. The London-born singer, who had signed with London-based Tap Management in 2013 while working at a cocktail bar, took its bosses by shock when she announced her departure.
Industry insiders linked her exit to her dissatisfaction with the percentage she received from her recording and commercial deals negotiated on her behalf by Tap Management. The triple Grammy award-winner has contracts with Warner Music and has inked lucrative endorsements with major brands including Evian, Yves Saint Laurent, and Versace. Additionally, she has social media contracts to endorse the Truly alcoholic beverage.
The timing of her endorsements is varied – some are recent, while others date back to when she was just breaking into the global music scene with a then comparatively modest 87 million followers on Instagram.
Her surprising decision to sever ties with Tap Management and manager Ben Mawson were met with mixed industry reactions. A source claimed, “It was a shock to many, but money matters often give rise to disagreements. This rift had been simmering for some time. Tap elevated her from an unknown teenager to the most successful female artist globally. It can’t help but indicate a serious falling out.”
Lipa surged to stardom in 2018 with her worldwide chart-topping single ‘One Kiss.’ She was awarded the Brit Award for Song of the Year and best new artist and best dance recording prizes at the Grammys a year later. Word had it that her father, Dukagjin, would step in as her new manager, taking the reins from Tap whose clientele boasts big names like Ellie Goulding and ex-Little Mix vocalist Leigh-Ann Pinnock.
