The 59th Academy of Country Music Awards took everyone by storm when renowned pop artist, Dua Lipa, paired up with well-known country singer, Chris Stapleton. The award ceremony took place at The Ford Center at The Star in Fisco, Texas. Stirring the audience with their performance, this surprising duo serenaded the packed 12,000-seater stadium with Stapleton’s 2023 hit, “Think I’m in Love with You”.
“Perhaps we needed time to listen to our hearts,” voiced Lipa, during the emotionally charged performance.
The 28-year-old pop sensation proved why she’s favoured in the industry. Dazzling the audience, Lipa displayed her lean physique in a navy-blue fishnet dress, topped off with a halter neckline and matching pumps, chosen by her stylist, Jahleel Weaver.
Decorating the awards night with her presence, the thrice Grammy-awarded artist adorned her hair in a burgundy updo. A perfectly contoured complexion complemented her outfit for the event. The duo revelled in the applause after the performance, with Lipa displaying her affection for Chris in a heartfelt embrace.
Even though Lipa and Stapleton hail from different genres, their backstage camaraderie suggested a natural chemistry. In her interview with ACM Awards correspondent, Bobby Bones, Lipa admitted, “Well, we really got together, like, two days ago to rehearse for this, but we’ve been talking about this for a little while.”
Lipa further revealed it was her idea to collaborate with Stapleton. The pop star, a fan of the country musician, candidly shared how she reached out to him with the proposal. “And this came about,” she gleefully added.
Lipa felt fortunate to have shared the musical space with Chris and his wife, Morgane, for the past few days. She expressed her delight in diving into the musical synergy that came from their collaboration.
In response, Chris, a ten-time Grammy winer whose roots can be traced back to a family of coal miners, magnanimously tagged Lipa as ‘the queen of feel good music.’
Stapleton bagged three prestigious accolades at the ACM Awards – the Male Artist of the Year, Artist-songwriter of the Year, and Album of the Year for his fifth record, ‘Higher.’ During breaks in the event, he mingled with stars like Brittany Aldean, wife of Grammy nominee Jason Aldean.
On the beige carpet, Lipa interacted with the likes of two-time Grammy nominee, Jelly Roll, and Grammy winner, Lainey Wilson. She looked elegant in a sheer black beaded seashell tank top, paired with a matching silk maxi-skirt and peep-toe heels.
Lipa recently made her relationship with boyfriend, Callum Turner, official on Instagram. The pop star, boasting nearly 150 million social media followers, cleverly posted without revealing Turner’s face or tagging him. Lipa and the 34-year-old Englishman were first spotted together at an LA premiere afterparty on January 10th.
Lipa, known for her previous relationships with music video director, Romain Gavras, and Oswald frontman, Anwar Hadid, eager fans are watching her next move. She’s all geared up for her 12-stop European ‘Radical Optimism Tour,’ set to kick off on June 5 at Germany’s Waldbühne in Berlin.
