Proving the old adage โthe apple doesnโt fall far from the treeโ to be true, Dua Lipaโs parents sauntered into their daughterโs celebrity-heavy Met Gala after party just past 3 a.m.โlooking fresh as daisies. Days earlier, the chart-topper had told theย SNLย audience during her monologue on the show that itโs not unusual to bump into the ever-cool Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa at such an hour in a club, even if it means they see her enjoying herself a bit too much.
Such was definitely the case as the performer was joined by a bevy of major names from fashion and entertainment to clink a glแดss of Dom Pรฉrignon Vintage 2013 to her latest album,ย Radical Optimism,ย and, seemingly, life in general for the unstoppable pop star.
Arriving just shy of 2 a.m. for her second annual Met Gala after-party hosted by the champagne brand, Lipa opted for an outfit change into another custom look designed by Marc Jacobs. For her next ensemble, Jacobs and Lipaโs new stylist, Jahleel Weaver, drew inspiration from the designerโs Fall โ94 collection, landing on a crystal-encrusted bralette, black tuxedo trousers with a blingy waistband, fishnet opera gloves, a faux fur stole, and a headpiece with a net veil.
As her fans will know, the British performer also helms the current affairs, human interest, and pop culture editorial platform, podcast, and book club Service95, which covers a lot of ground with its dispatches. Hence, there was little surprise that her guestlist for the party would bring together everyone from Jeff Bezos to Jonathan Andersonโmany of whom stayed until well after 4 A.M.
Fans will also be keenly aware of her budding romance with model-turned-actor Callum Turner. Late into the night, in a secluded area beside the stage and behind a red velvet curtain, the couple enjoyed an impromptu double date with Baz Luhrmann and his longtime right hand Catherine Martin, as they posed for fashion favorite, German Larkin. While Turner was not present on her arm at the Met Gala, theย Masters of Oneย heartthrob made up for lost time by smooching Lipa at every chance he got.
โDua wanted aย realย party,โ someone was overheard saying. Lipa reportedly made sure that those in the room werenโt random party-hoppers by personally overseeing that the invites went directly to those engaged in her community.
So, rather than gowns and tuxedos, the secretive IYK, YK Meatpacking club Hearsay was filled to the brim with people who just wanted to dance themselves clean in their normal going-out clothes. All the better to let loose to a pumping, two-hour Ibiza-worthy set by Black Coffee. Actress Greta Lee had changed out of her Loewe red carpet frock and into a short and simple dress and sneakers so she could spend the night dancing with โSlaysiansโ Tina Leung, Prabal Gurung, and Ezra J. Williams. A testament to the genuine fun in the room? Minimal phones on the dance floor!
