The sensational “Levitating” artist just graced the cover of Wall Street Journal Magazine. She laid bare her experiences relating to releasing the album “Future Nostalgia” amidst the pandemic, her preparations for the upcoming tour, and her upcoming plunge into the world of podcasts and newsletters during the interview. In the complementary photo shoot, she exudes composed coolness adorned in a cap and a hoodie, veiled under classic black and white.
Her magazine outfits resonate with her aesthetic. Among her various attires, she presented in a grey tie-up sweater with baggy jeans, a green printed jacket teamed up with a brown bralette and shiny khaki trousers, and a grey hooded sweatshirt paired with a white T-shirt, fitted jeans, and a baseball cap. A fuzzy tan robe was adorned with loose trousers, and a fashionable Gucci x Balenciaga Hacker jacket found a match in baggy jeans and sultry black lingerie.
Recounting her release of Future Nostalgia during the pandemic, Dua Lipa shared:
“I always adhere to the ideology that rewarding experiences often stem from stepping out of your comfort zone,” said Lipa on one wintry Manhattan morning. “When the pandemic emerged, and a wave of uncertainty arose about the release of the album, I decided to just go for it. It felt right to release this album while everyone’s confined to their homes. Admittedly, launching the album amid the pandemic was nerve-wracking. But, somehow, taking the plunge felt like the right move.”
Reflecting on the evolving inclusivity and diversity in the fashion industry since her early modelling days, Lipa added:
“Walking the Versace show last fall lent me a new perspective. Things have changed dramatically with models from varying sizes, races, and genders. The expansive beauty spectrum we have today contrasts starkly against the limited scope we had previously. I love being a part of this epoch of significant transformations in fashion where people hold themselves accountable and take a stand for their beliefs.”
Offering a glimpse into her next album, Lipa stated:
“I’ve dedicated considerable time to writing and the album is starting to take shape – a lot of it is already recorded. The album has a name – at least for now, and a vision. Experimenting has been fun and while I intend to stick to pop music, this album has a unique sound, acting as a continuation from Future Nostalgia. But it’s still nascent, and how it evolves remains to be seen. Defying expectations may not be what my fans wish for, but I’m in no rush.”
